The Wheeler Homestead , located on Dorset Street In South Burlington, is owned by the City but houses a unique operation known as Common Roots, a non-profit offering programs to teach sustainability and organic gardening.
The Wheeler Homestead rests on acres of land overlooking Mt. Mansfield and offers a quaint, Vermont feel for the most discerning of couples looking for a unique experience.
Mission:
Common Roots connects farmers, educators, youth, and community members to build a sustainable future through food and land stewardship education. By collectively growing food for our programs and food shelves, we celebrate the soil and soul of community. Our regenerative farming practices provide food and soil security nurturing our common roots.
A portion of all proceeds from events returns back to the purpose of this program..

Whitford House
1790's New England Farmhouse
Located on a quiet, country road overlooking the Adirondack Mountains, surrounded by the rich farmland of Central Vermont, Whitford House welcomes you. This peaceful retreat includes a restored 1790's New England farmhouse and contemporary guest house. It is conveniently located between Lake Champlain and historic Middlebury, home to Middlebury College.
Grand views of meadows and mountains, from the home's many windows, offer breathtaking beauty throughout the seasons. Comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated, and sunny porches and patios are sure to make one's stay a restful, romantic new England getaway to remember.
Continental breakfast is included, featuring freshly-roasted Vermont Coffee Co. coffee, assorted tea, orange juice, organic steel-cut oatmeal, yogurt, granola, wholesome cereal, and whole fruit. If you prefer a full, prepared breakfast, there are several lovely choices in Vergennes and Middlebury.
Whether booking our B&B for a few nights stay or for a long weekend wedding, you will find Whitford House extremely accommodating and relaxing with the additional advantage of having a full-service Certified Wedding Coordinator to work through the details of your event and our preferred, partnering catering company, CBD Events dba Catering By Dale, to provide top-notch cuisine, personal event coordinators, bar service and luxurious pampering.

Our private estate allows you exclusive use of our lovely home, self-sufficient large guest house, the entire property with awe-inspiring views and the added benefit of hiring our preferred catering company, Catering By Dale, for intimate family gatherings or weddings and other social events.
